A month or so ago while we were enjoying a day at Eleko beach with our hut-mates, Houses 42, 40, 53, and 58, I thought it would be cool to have Thanksgiving dinner there this year and I suggested it. The kids could play, it would be totally informal.
The plans came together and we owe a big thanks to the "madam" at house 42 who really did all the hard work. She cooked the turkey, she had the lanterns built, she made the champagne/cranberry cocktails (the cranberries were French imports) she laid everything out.
And us? We showed up and had a great time.

Our MD just sent word that expats are approved today a "short work schedule for those who wish to take advantage of the Thanksgiving Holiday. " Since non-expats have a regular day, we are advised to keep our exit "low key". That is certainly me.
To say Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday is an understatement. In fact, that may be what I love about it. Thanksgiving is an understated holiday. It is not about getting stuff, it is about giving thanks for stuff.
I think it is appropriate that we expats are slipping out of work early and keeping it "low key."
I hope you all have a happy and "low key" Thanksgiving as well.

The last weekend was Stacey's birthday and the kids and I cooked brunch. The recipe for Banana's Foster crepes seemed easy enough and I told Ben to go get the camera for a "great shot."
I added only half the rum that the recipe called for and I lit the bananas.
Woosh!
The flames shot up three feet into the air! One horrified little girl and one dumfounded wife stared as I watched this pillar of fire in out kitchen burn itself out.
The breakfast ended happily for us and the crepes were a hit, but, wow, what a fire!
